Overview

About this event

WeAreDevelopers World Congress is the flagship event of WeAreDevelopers, founded in 2017 as Europe's leading developer community. The 2026 edition is the 8th annual World Congress and returns to CityCube Berlin for three days of keynotes, technical talks, workshops, masterclasses and a 40,000 square metre Tech Expo. Full programme details are on the official WeAreDevelopers World Congress site.

The Congress is built for developers, platform teams, security teams and engineering leaders who want practical answers to the hardest open questions in software right now: how to build with AI, what to automate, what to trust, what to secure, what to buy and how to operate AI systems in production. Sessions are delivered by people building and operating real systems, covering AI-assisted development, agents, cloud platforms, observability, data pipelines, security, developer tools and delivery workflows.

The 2026 edition expects 15,000+ builders, 8,000+ companies, 2,000+ decision-makers and 500+ speakers across 20+ stages, with the Tech Expo spanning 40,000 square metres. The event is now in its eighth year and is recognised as the place where major product launches happen on stage, including the first public demo of GitHub Copilot and OverflowAI.

What Usually Happens at WeAreDevelopers World Congress?

The Congress runs across three days combining a main programme of keynotes and talks with hands-on workshops, deep-dive masterclasses and live coding sessions where attendees try the tools and break things rather than just watch slides. The Tech Expo runs alongside the main programme, giving attendees direct access to sponsor booths, product demos and certification opportunities. The legendary Congress party and CODE100, Europe's biggest live coding competition, round out the experience each year.

Side events, satellite gatherings and networking moments fill the time between sessions, alongside dedicated formats including the Tech Leaders Summit and Tech Leaders Night for CTOs, CIOs and senior executives. Past editions have hosted major industry moments on stage, including GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke's first public demo of GitHub Copilot, Stack Overflow's reveal of OverflowAI, and Sir Tim Berners-Lee discussing the future of the web.

Main Topics at WeAreDevelopers World Congress 2026

5 topics

AI is already inside the development workflow. The 2026 programme is built around the hard questions that remain open: how to build with AI, what to automate, what to trust, what to secure, what to buy, and how to operate AI systems in production. Sessions span more than 20 parallel tracks across the three days.

AI-Assisted Development and Agents

AI-assisted development and agentic systems are the central theme of the 2026 programme. Sessions cover how AI agents are integrated into real developer workflows, what has scaled in production, and what teams would not do again. David Soria Parra's session on MCP, the protocol he co-created at Anthropic, anchors this track.

Cloud Platforms and Infrastructure

Sessions from cloud platform leaders including Werner Vogels (Amazon) and Malte Ubl (Vercel) cover modern cloud architecture, platform engineering and the infrastructure decisions shaping production AI workloads. Michael Kagan's session from NVIDIA addresses AI hardware and accelerated computing.

Developer Tools and Platform Engineering

Sessions on developer tools and platform engineering feature leaders from Sentry, Nx, Atlassian and Netlify, covering observability, build systems, CI/CD pipelines and the tooling decisions that determine whether AI-assisted development scales safely across engineering organisations.

Security and Trust in AI Systems

Security sessions address what to trust and what to secure as AI moves deeper into production systems. This track covers application security, supply chain risk and the governance frameworks needed as AI agents gain more autonomy over codebases and infrastructure.

Software Architecture and Delivery at Scale

Sessions on software architecture and delivery workflows draw from engineering leaders across industries including adidas, Atlassian and Mercedes-Benz Tech Innovation, focused on what broke, what scaled and the decisions that shaped their technology stack.
