About this event
Open Source Summit is the Linux Foundation's flagship event series. It unites maintainers, technologists and community leaders. The event spans cloud, embedded systems, AI, security and safety-critical software.
The Korea edition returns for its second year in 2026. The inaugural edition ran in November 2025. It was the first-ever Open Source Summit hosted in South Korea.
The event runs under the theme Code, Community, Collaboration. It gives Korean and regional developers direct access to global open source leaders, without needing to travel to Europe or North America.
What Usually Happens at Open Source Summit Korea?
The event runs across two days with keynotes, breakout sessions and a Solutions Showcase. Sessions span eight tracks, from Linux kernel development to open AI and data. Co-located events add security and infrastructure programming alongside the main summit.
Evening events and onsite activities round out the schedule. Past editions have included Tux Trek, a Linux Foundation tradition, alongside networking receptions for attendees.

Open Source Summit Korea 2025 Recap
Open Source Summit Korea launched in 2025 as the first-ever edition hosted in South Korea, setting the foundation for the 2026 event. The inaugural edition ran November 4 and 5, 2025, in Seoul.

Main announcements included:
- Linus Torvalds, creator of Linux and Git, delivered a keynote in conversation with Dirk Hohndel of Verizon
- Jim Zemlin delivered a keynote titled Open Source in the Age of AI
- Jung-Woo Ha delivered an AI keynote that attendees described as genuinely shifting how they think about the field
- Co-located events included OpenSearchCon Korea and OpenSSF Community Day Korea, both requiring separate pre-registration
- A panel titled The Shift to Digital Money featured voices from the Bank of Korea, Shinhan Bank and LayerZero
- The Safety-Critical Software Track featured Boeing's work qualifying open source LLVM tools against aviation safety standards
